KeflexBetter position to deliver long-term value to our shareholders than at any point in our history. The Advancis management team and Board of Directors are very excited about our forthcoming Phase III results for our lead products, and the tremendous long-term potential for our Company. I have great confidence in our Company, our team of managers and professionals, and in Advancis' ability to deliver results and value to our shareholders. I very pleased to present this review of 2004 along with a summary of our current initiatives. Amoxicillin PULSYS Early in 2004, we announced that we selected Par Pharmaceutical Companies to be our partner in commercializing our most advanced pulsatile product, based on the world's most commonly prescribed antibiotic, amoxicillin. Amoxicillin PULSYS is currently under evaluation in two Phase III clinical trials for pharyngitis tonsillitis a tablet for adolescents adults and a "sprinkle" version for children. Results from the trials are expected in the second and third quarters of 2005. In the U.S., the most common prescription for pharyngitis is 500mg of amoxicillin three times daily for ten days, or 15 grams of drug over the entire treatment period. Our pulsatile amoxicillin is being dosed at 775mg once-daily for seven days, or 5.4 grams total. If our trials are successful and the drug is approved for marketing, Amoxicillin PULSYS will be able to eliminate twothirds of the drug previously required, while also providing the convenience of once-daily dosing and a shorter treatment period. We believe this is a very powerful combination, and as a result, our product will have great market appeal. The current size of the retail amoxicillin market in the U.S. is estimated to be approximately $600 million per year with more than 54 million prescriptions. We believe that significant growth in that market is still possible. PULSYS Scientific Recognition Several preclinical studies evaluating the merits of pulsatile antibiotic dosing were conducted by anti-infective research experts during the year, providing increased exposure to and recognition of pulsatile antibiotic delivery. Results from four such studies were delivered during poster presentations at leading scientific conferences in 2004. Also, two research papers summarizing in vitro studies on pulse-dosing antibiotics were published in peer-review publications during the year. Research from Dr. John Rotschafer, et al, on pulse-dosing of the antibiotic metronidazole was published in the November issue of Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy ; and Drs. Raymond Cha and Michael Rybak published research on pulse-dosing of amoxicillin in the December 2004 issue of the Journal of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy. Kfflex Acquisition Mid-year, we acquired the U.S. rights to the antibiotic, Kedlex the leading brand of the first-generation oral cephalosporin, cephalexin. We reported net Kefl4x product sales of $2.4 million over the second half of 2004 and believe we can increase sales significantly over the current run-rate. However, we believe the real value in the acquisition will be the potential to create a Keflex. Keflex keflex and urinary tract infections be administered with caution in this medication guide. Fig. 1 Sleep log The patient enters times of going to sleep and when awake, including any daytime naps or sleeps, and any factors that tend to make sleep better or worse, e.g. meals, alcohol. They should also enter the names and times of any medicines taken. This sleep log helps to establish whether they have early, middle or late insomnia.
